The UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson announced on Wednesday(05/01/2022), modifitations to covid testing obligations. For passengers coming to England Amid record high covid cases.
There alterarions in rules were welcomed by the travel industry, wich deteriorated because of travel limitations introduced to control the spread of the omicron variant.
Fully vaccinated travellers coming to England will no longer be required to undergo a pre-departure covid test from 4:00 am on Friday, 7 January before they travel.
Furthermore, those fully vaccinated passengers coming to England from 4:00 am on Sunday, 9 January will no longer be obligated to self-isolate whilst awaiting a negative result from their covid test.
Travellers coming to England will also no longer be required to undergo a PCR test within 2 days of arrival, and a lateral flow test (I.E rapid covid test) will be adequate.
So, if you test positive, you will be obligated to self-isolate and take and additional PCR test.
Unvaccinated travellers will still be obligated to take a pre-departure covid test, self-isolate for 10 days and take two PCR tests on day 2 and day 8 after arrival.
Unvaccinated passegers who are in England for less than 10 days will Only be obligated to self-isolate for the time they are in the UK. They will still be required to reserve day 2 and day 8 PCR tests.
Keep in mind that if you are vaccinated or not vaccinated, travellers are still obrigated to complete a passenger locator form inside 48 hours before travelling to England.
