Imagine if you could take a simple salary here in your country and go to a certain country and that money would be worth much, much more there. You could live in luxury, splurge a lot, with all the comforts of the world. In this article we will see exactly which are these countries and what you could do there.

Probably with the minimum wage in your country you can buy food for the month, pay some bills, and depending on the size of your family you may even have a little left over or not. But what would happen if you went to these countries with this money?

In some of them the cost of living is so cheap that you could stay in luxurious hotels for only 10 dollars/euros at night, have lunches and dinners for two or three dollars/euros, rent entire beachfront houses for a whole month for less than 500 dollars/euros. Yes, this is possible and almost always we will have to go to the less touristy side of these countries, in the less known cities and regions, of course the cheapness is relative but compared to Brazil at least, which is my country, the difference is frightening.

Thailand

The first country where the cost of living is absurdly cheap is Thailand. Known for its temples, beaches, landscapes and a nightlife a little more hectic than normal, so to speak. If you go to the capital Bangkok you will see that apparently it is a normal city, with normal prices, but if you go to less known cities, countryside towns, more rural towns you will be frightened by the difference in the cost of living. You can easily rent houses, chalets, hotels with incredible views for less than 20 dollar/euro a night, all in one of the countries with the most beautiful beaches and landscapes in the world.

India

India is a poor country, maybe this is not news to you, but that’s why your money is worth much more there. In fact, it is not a country for everyone, but if you like new experiences, you can have excellent meals for 1 or 2 dollars/euros and rent motorcycles for up to 5x less than what is charged in Europe or the United States. Many travelers say that if you go to India you will never be the same person again, would you go?

Indonesia

This is a surfer’s paradise with beautiful beaches and many tourists. The cost of living in Indonesia is very low and for this reason many Europeans, English, Germans go to live there after their retirement. It is a country where the euro or dollar is worth much more. Renting a seasonal house with many rooms and facing the beach for two weeks or more can cost around 100 dollars/euros. Usually people get friends together and spend months of vacation in these houses. Indonesia is a safe country, with low violence, many green areas, rivers, parties and beaches. It is a very cheap country if you get away from the more well known areas.

Panama

The cost of living in Panama is a big attraction for everyone and a very positive point is that there the currency used is the same as in the United States, the American dollar. Many people there speak English, which attracts even more tourists. You can have lunch there for around 43 US$/euro per person and dinner for 7 US$. If you don’t like to eat out, with $150 approximately your fridge will be full for a whole month, a single person can stay in Panama with a lot of comfort and luxury with only $1500 per month and a couple around $2200 reais per month.

Bulgaria

To break the paradigm that the whole of Europe is expensive and only for rich people here is this small Eastern European country to prove otherwise, especially if you go away from the Capital.  It is one of the best choices in Europe if you want to save real money, you can rent apartments with two bedrooms or more for about 18 euros per night, this is even cheaper than many cities in the interior of my country, Brazil. Now if you want to show that you went to Europe and take lots of pictures in the snow, you already know which country to choose.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a country little talked about and still very much unknown by many people unfortunately. Sri Lanka is an island in the South of India located in the Indian Ocean with breathtaking landscapes and great diversity of islands, from desert environments to tropical forest. The average rent of an apartment or house is very cheap, starting on 3€ dolars per night, and you can find street food stalls with prices less than 1 dollar, believe it or not, have you ever thought of having lunch and dinner for only 1 or 2 dollars?

Many people compare the landscapes of this country to the city of Recife in Brazil, so you can imagine that it is no small beauty, can you?

Vietnam

Neighbor of Thailand, it is very common to pay 50 cents on a mug of drink in a bar or 2-3 dollars to consume as much as you want, it seems surreal but it is what happens in the Vietnamese nightlife. Travelers who have been there always say that they are a smiling and hospitable people and that they always want to make friends with foreigners. Another traveler said that when he went further inland in Vietnam he felt like a celebrity because everyone wanted to have their picture taken with him. Here you can find shared rooms for 3 dollars per night and luxury hotels with everything you are entitled to from 10 dollars per night depending on the region you are in, it is very cheap.

And you, which of these countries would you visit? Which one would you like to visit? Comment here below.
