Platja de l’Illa Roja

The Costa Brava is known for its beautiful beaches, and Platja de l’Illa Roja is a stunning virgin beach that is perfect for both nudists and non-nudists. It is situated in the Illa Roja village, and its surroundings include a lush mountain range and a chiringuito at the back. The beach is clean, with clear waters and fine sand, and is equipped with cleaning services.

Although it is only 0.1 km away from the village’s center, Platja de l’Illa Roja is ranked 49th out of 138 beaches in the Gerunda area, making it a must-visit destination. It is perfect for solo travelers, couples, families, and anyone looking for a relaxing escape. You don’t need special footwear to enter the turquoise crystal-clear water. Apart from swimming and sunbathing, there are various activities that visitors can participate in. There are no facilities available, so it’s just you and nature. Accessing the beach is easy, with a road less than 500 meters away, and parking available at a distance of 300 meters. There are nine other beaches within a five-kilometer radius, but the best is Playa Aiguablava.

Playa El Castell

6 Cheap Beaches in Spain You Will Love To Visit

Playa El Castell, located in the municipality of Palamós, is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas on the Costa Brava. The area has been preserved from massive construction and has a vast sandy beach that forms an extensive bay surrounded by large rocky masses that face the sea. This beach is an archaeological site of great historical value, as it has the impressive Iberian settlement of Castell at one end of the beach.

Despite its distance from the town center of Palamós, the beach offers several services, including a bar, sun lounger and parasol hire, kayak school, and lifeguard service. It is accessible for people with reduced mobility, with ramps and access walkways. The beach also has a payable parking area during the summer months. Due to its features, it is usually highly occupied.

Cala Giverola

Cala Giverola, a small cove surrounded by cliffs and pines, is located just 5 kilometers from the center of Tossa de Mar. To access the beach, visitors need to take the road that leads to Sant Feliu de Guíxols and enter the resort just before the cove. There is a public car park (payable during the summer season) located just a few meters away for motor vehicle access. The cove has several services for bathers, such as a bar/restaurant, showers, toilets, lifeguard, and boat hire service. Next to Cala Treumal, we find Santa Cristina Beach, separated by a natural corridor formed by the rocks of the area and the effect of erosion on them.

Cala Treumal

Cala Treumal is located on the boundary separating Lloret de Mar and Blanes, and stands out for its natural surroundings and being somewhat distant from the most popular bathing areas. Visitors can park in a public car park (payable during the summer season) located just a few meters away. The cove has several services for bathers, such as a bar/restaurant, showers, toilets, a lifeguard, and boat hire service. Next to Cala Treumal, visitors can find Santa Cristina Beach, separated by a natural corridor formed by the rocks of the area and the effect of erosion on them. Cala Treumal is the 13th best beach in Gerunda, with a distance of 32.5 km from the city center.

Cala del Senyor Ramon – Tossa de Mar

Cala Del Sr. Ramon is ranked 20th out of 138 beaches in Gerunda, located 27.9 km away from the city center of Gerunda. It’s one of the beaches in the village of Urbanitzacio Giverola, just 3.2 km from its center. The beach is situated in a natural location.

This beach consists of several small coves with crystal turquoise water and golden shell sand, so special footwear is not required. The entry into the water is normal, and the beach is suitable for different categories of people, including solo travelers, escape lovers, hikers, etc.

The entire coast is available to everyone, but there are no amenities, just nature. Apart from swimming and sunbathing, you can also participate in other activities. However, getting to the beach is not easy, as you must be prepared for a long walk and overcome a rural road that stretches for more than 1 km. The parking area is at a relative distance, 300 meters away. There are 13 other beaches available within a radius of 5 km, with Cala Pola being the best, rated at 9.5.

This beach is probably one of the best nudist coves on the Costa Brava, and the effort to get there is well worth the reward. During our walk in the old town, we stumbled upon a small entrance in the wall and found ourselves at a charming outlook spot overlooking this amazing beach. It’s a real gem.

The beach, which is about 330 meters long, has coarse sand, but the seabed is sandy. The access to the water is steep, so it’s important to consider this for children. What gives it its rugged and wild appearance is the fact that it’s bordered to the north by a group of islets called “Escollos de Canyet,” which separates it from the Canyet Beach, and to the south by a rocky set that joins it to the “Caleta dels Concagats.”

Platja Mar Menuda

Nestled just a stone’s throw away from the town center of Tossa de Mar, La Mar Menuda Beach is a hidden gem that offers a perfect blend of tranquillity and adventure. This beach is a popular spot for families, thanks to its calm, shallow waters, and well-equipped infrastructure.

The beach spans over 150 meters and boasts coarse, light-colored sand. The waters are crystal-clear and clean, making it an ideal spot for swimming and snorkelling. La Mar Menuda Beach has been awarded a “Blue Flag,” which is a testament to the quality of its waters and the cleanliness of the beach.

One of the most unique features of this beach is a rock formation that surrounds a small cove, known as “sa banyera de ses dones” or the “bath of the women.” Legend has it that the rock formation was split in two to create this cove so that Sant Ramon de Penyafort could reach a dying man in time to hear his confession. The cove is ideal for young children, as the shallow waters and calm sea make it safe for them to play and swim.

Information about the beach

La Mar Menuda Beach is the second most popular beach in Tossa de Mar, after Gran Beach. It has a width of 20 meters and a length of 180 meters, making it spacious enough to accommodate visitors even during peak season. The beach is well-connected, with multiple access points, including car, boat, and on foot. It is also equipped with a walkway and an amphibian chair, making it accessible to people with disabilities.

The beach has all the necessary amenities for a comfortable day out, including sunbeds, parasols, toilets, showers, and a beachfront café-bar. For those seeking adventure, there is a dedicated area for water activities, and a diving center for those who love to explore the depths of the sea.

La Mar Menuda Beach is an ideal destination for couples, families, hikers, and city dwellers alike. The beach has a high occupancy rate, especially during peak season, so it’s advisable to arrive early to secure a good spot. With its pristine waters, sandy beach, and a range of amenities, La Mar Menuda Beach is a haven for those seeking a fun-filled day out with their loved ones.
